Dato’ Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Malaya and a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is currently Deputy Director General of the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department. He specializes in economic analysis and forecasting, public finance management and budgeting, as well as economic development. He previously served the Ministry of Finance, handling economic analysis, debt management and budgeting, and also served on a secondment in the World Bank in Washington D.C. In addition, he had served a Senior Private Secretary to the Minister of Special Functions.
Dato’ Nik Azman was involved with the regional development plan and preparing the development budget for the Ninth Malaysia Plan. During the Tenth Malaysia Plan, he drafted and recommended the macroeconomic strategic thrusts and the overall growth target, and the level of development expenditure for the Tenth Malaysia Plan. He was also the Head of the Tenth Malaysia Plan Secretariat, coordinating the overall preparation of the Tenth Plan document. He was also responsible for coordinating the mapping of the initiatives in the Tenth Malaysia Plan. During the preparation of the Eleventh Malaysia Plan, he oversaw the write up of two out of six strategic thrusts, namely on inclusivity and human capital development, besides preparing the overall Plan.
Dato’ Nik Azman sits on the Board of Directors of KEJORA (South-Eastern Johore Development Authority) and also serves as a member of the KEJORA Board Audit Committee. In addition, he serves on the Council of MARA and as a member of MARA Council Audit Committee and MARA Promotion Board. He is also a member of UDA Holdings Berhad Board of Directors and a member of UDA Holdings Berhad nomination and remuneration committee.
