Dr. Giovanni Butera is the Founder and Chairman of The GAIA Project, a not-for-profit initiative aimed to support the international exchange of disadvantaged artists. He is also the Managing Director of Nixora Group, a risk management consulting firm for banks.
His experience in developing, implementing, and validating risk models for the banking industry for over 16 years includes high-level positions at Wipro Technologies, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Capitalia Banking Group-Unicredit, and Moody’s Investor Services. He is a leading quantitative risk specialist and has deep knowledge of global risk banking regulation, data collection, analysis and management, risk model development and validation, stress testing, forecasting, reporting, capital adequacy measurement, and active capital management issues.
Dr. Giovanni has spoken at over 20 international conferences on risk management issues, modelling techniques, and regulatory compliance, providing knowledge sharing sessions and specialized risk training to senior executives of large banks in Europe, Asia, and Australia.
He has written and published numerous papers for academic journals and leading global universities such as the University of Rome, University of Melbourne, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology on a diverse range of topics.
In addition to his extensive experience and outstanding academic scholarships, he is a member of the Professional Risk Manager International Association (PRIMA) and the Global Association of Risk Managers (GARP).
